2025 Sale Art Contest
Call for Submissions: 2025 Equine Art Selection for the
2025 Fall Classic Breeders' Sale

Continuing our valued tradition, the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association invites artists to participate in the 2025 Equine Art Selection process for the 31st Annual Canadian Warmblood Fall Classic Breeders' Sale. We are seeking submissions of original artwork for potential use in our promotional materials, including the coveted sale catalogue cover, website, and advertising.
The selected artwork will be featured as Lot 0 of the sale. 80% of the proceeds from its sale will go to the artist, while 20% will support the 2026 Canadian Warmblood Young Breeder's Team's journey to the WBFSH International Young Breeders' Championships in Germany.
Submissions may include original works in any medium — oil, pastel, digital, watercolour, etc. — as well as limited edition prints of original work. The selection committee is looking for a piece that artistically represents the Warmblood horse, with emphasis on breeding and/or sport. Please note that the winning entry must be adaptable for use in a variety of promotional formats, including the catalogue cover.
Deadline for submissions: June 1, 2025
To enter, please complete a submission form for each entry and include a high-resolution digital image of the artwork. For any further question please reach out to admin@cwauction.ca.
We look forward to seeing your creative interpretations of the Warmblood horse!
Terms & Conditions
1. Participants must submit a completed submission form and clear, colour digital copy for each piece of artwork to the selection committee by the deadline of June 1st, 2025. Submission of more than one project is permitted. Submissions must be made through our website. The artwork must be suitable for colour print reproduction.
2. The selection committee will choose one of the submissions for use as the image for the 2025 Canadian Warmblood Fall Classic Breeders' Sale. The image will be used on the Canadian Warmblood Auction website, in the advertising for the sale, on the catalogue cover, and on any appropriate promotional materials. The artist, upon making the submission, grants to the CWHBA Alberta Chapter and the Canadian Warmblood Auction copyright authorization for reproduction of the artwork for these express purposes.
3. The selected piece will be sold at auction as Lot #0 of the 2025 Canadian Warmblood Fall Classic Breeders' Sale. A 20% commission on the sale of the work will be retained by the CWHBA for their Young Breeders' program, with the balance (80%) paid to the artist. Artwork must be sent to the purchaser framed, and the cost of framing is at the artist's expense.
4. GST will be charged on all sales according to Canadian law. This requires the artist, if registered, to supply a GST number to the CWHBA Alberta Chapter so that we may collect GST on your behalf.
5. The winning artist will be notified of their selected piece by June 15th, 2025. A high-resolution scan must be submitted by July 1st, 2025 for use on the printed promotional items and the original piece must be shipped/delivered to the buyer following the sale.
6. The winning artist will be named in the sale catalogue and on the sale web site, including a full bio and contact information, as well as be featured on all our social media platforms.
